Japanese knotweed extract is the dried rhizome and root of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb.et Zucc. Excavated in spring and autumn, removed fibrous roots, washed, cut into short or thick slices while fresh, and sun-dried. Distributed in Northwest, East, Central, South and Southwest China. It has the functions of dispelling dampness and relieving jaundice, clearing heat and detoxifying, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain, relieving cough and resolving phlegm. Used for damp-heat jaundice, stranguria, leucorrhea, rheumatic arthralgia, carbuncle sore, water-fire scald, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, traumatic injury, lung-heat cough.

②Chrysophanol: synonym rhein, Chrysophanic acid, 3-Methylchrysazin. Molecular formula C15H10O4, molecular weight 254.23. Golden yellow hexagonal flake crystal (acetone) or needle crystal (ethanol).mp.196℃, Can sublime. Soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene, glacial acetic acid, ethanol, slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in petroleum ether, insoluble in water, sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate aqueous solution, soluble in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution and hot carbonic acid Aqueous sodium solution.

③Emodin 6-methyl ether (Emodin monomethyl ether): molecular formula C16H12O5, molecular weight 284.26. Golden yellow crystal, mp.207℃, can be sublimated. Soluble in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, the solubility is similar to chrysophanol.

④Emodin-6-methyl ether-8-D-glucoside (Anthraglycoside A): molecular formula C22H33O10, molecular weight 447.26. Yellow needles (dilute methanol), mp.230℃~232℃.

⑤Emodin 8-D-glucoside (Anthraglycoside B): molecular formula C21H20O10*1.5H2O, molecular weight 459.39. Golden yellow crystal (absolute ethanol), light yellow needle crystal (dilute ethanol, 1 molecular water). mp.191℃ ~194℃. Hardly soluble in water, ethyl acetate, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in benzene.

⑥Resveratrol glucoside (Polydatin): synonym Polydatin, Peceid. Molecular formula C20H22O8, molecular weight 390.40. The trihydrate is a colorless needle crystal (30% methanol or 40% acetone). mp.223℃~226℃(decomposition), easily soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, hot water. Soluble in ethyl acetate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, slightly soluble in cold water, insoluble in ether.

⑦Resveratol: Colorless needle crystal, mp. 256℃~257℃, sublimation at 261℃. Soluble in ether, chloroform, methanol, ethanol, acetone, etc.

⑧Other ingredients: flavonoids such as Quercetin, quercetin-3-galactoside, quercetin-3-rhamnoside, etc.; β-sitosterol, palmitic acid, stearic acid, etc. Polygonum cuspidatum leaves and stems also contain a small amount of hydroxyanthraquinone compounds, organic acids, flavonoids, etc.
